Vintage / Antique Venetian Art Deco Moretti Millefiori Single Cane Necklace

This strand of MORETTI MILLEFIORI beads are well documented, presented in this pattern of threading. I did quite a bit of research, on stringing format, as initially I was unsure if the red and black spacer beads were original to the necklace, and the thread was so rotted that a restring was essential. I got my evidence 3 times over! 1/ In 2013 there was an Exhibition in Venice called ” LA VIA DELLA PERLE ” If you google it you will see some beautiful beads. I quote from the write up Ercole Moretti & F. Lli snc gave to the museum some of the most significant 20th century samples of Murano glass necklaces, pendants, earrings, and bracelets. Please note the spacer beads. The date attribution was a bit of a shock to me as it states 1915. I had not thought these millefiori were as early as that. 2/ If anyone has the book’ Glass Beads From Europe’ by SIBYLLE JARSGSTORF, please refer to page 63 showing a Moretti Sample Card c1920s. The card features the same mixture of Millefiori’s strung with the same red and black spacers. Put a search in for… Moretti Millefiori, When the page comes up scroll down to a comment posted on 12/11/14. The same design, and mixture of Millefiori and spacer beads, is shown again. As you can see I have researched these beads and their design to within an ” inch of their lives” I conclude, with no doubt at all, that, the Millefiori, the spacers, and the design are original to the way MORETTI presented them for sale in the early part of the 20th century. I have had great fun spending time tracking down this information. I understand that MORETTI did not retail, ready made bead necklaces, but only presented examples of how their precious Millefiori could be strung. Largest central oval = 30ml Long.
