This week we are very excited to be listing an amazing estate collection of fine jades and scholarly objects. This sale will be our Final sale of the winter season. We will likely list another Asian arts sale in early spring. This sale offers a wide variety of fine and important Chinese works of art including many jades, bronzes, and other rarely found scholarly objects. The sale features items from two important estate collections. They include items from the estate of Mr. H Pao of Toronto who owned a high-end shop in the famous Four Seasons hotel in Toronto for several years throughout the 1980s to 1990s period. Pao was a dear friend whom was considered one of North Americas top experts and scholars in many categories of antique Chinese art. The sale also includes jades and other early Chinese bronze and archaic items from the estate of A Abraham. Abraham was a highly respected Asian Arts dealer and collector in the 1950-70s period. Abraham owned the Imperial Jade shop in the famous King Edward hotel in Toronto until his retirement in the year 1976, 40 years ago. Most of the pieces have been in storage since the shop closed in 1976 and have not seen the light of day until now. I do wish everyone the very best of luck winning the auctions! This necklace has a beautiful double-strand design with a fine filigree white gold clasp. The necklace has beautiful natural apple green jadeite beads. The necklace is in fine condition as seen and the clasp is in perfect working order. The necklace is a very unique small size I believe made for a small child. The necklace has a total length of 14 inches long. The graduated beads measure from 3/16ths to 1/4 inch wide. The necklace has a total weight of 68.3 grams. This very fine c1920 art deco jadeite necklace would make a great and thoughtful gift idea for a younger child, one which would surely turn into a cherished family heirloom that could be passed down for generations.
