The fine Cube Crystals were most likely cut by a Czech jewelry master, but the piece was probably constructed in the USA. During the Deco era, most fine crystal beads were imported from Czechoslovakia where skilled artisans were second to none. Ornate Period Fish Hook Box Clasp stamped Sterling on the reverse. These clasps can be tricky and require some patience at first. To disengage, grasp the end firmly, gently push the clasp inwards, and then pull back so the hook will release and reveal itself in full. The disengagement process may take several tries at first, but once you’ve got it, you may then unhook the clasp. To engage, re-hook and push inward. The last reference photo is from a 1931 catalog showing Crystal Necklaces. These necklace styles were very popular in the Deco era and came in a variety of bead shapes and the catalog depicts but a few types.
