Art Deco Eisenberg Sterling Silver Enamel Sail Boat Nautical Bubble Necklace
I adore these bubble necklaces. They were designed and crafted by Eisenberg & Sons, Inc. This necklace is crafted from Sterling silver with white black and red enamel. The center is a lovely sail boat. It is complimented by two plaques of bubbles. The bubbles then extend to the paperclip chain also in sterling silver. The necklace is finished with a sterling hand etched clip and loop clasp. The back of each plaques is hallmarked Sterling along with Eisenberg’s hallmark. This necklace is in excellent condition with no damage to the enamel except for a tiny bite at the top of the jib sail in black. I have rarely seen a sailboat /bubble necklace as this, very unique indeed. Length: 15 1/2 Inches. Sail boat plaque: 5/8. Bubble plaques: 1 1/8″ x 3/8″. Weight: 5.8 grams. The original company, Eisenberg & Sons, Inc. Was formed in 1914 as a perfume and clothing company for ladies. After a while, during the late 1930s, the company began to manufacture jewelry for the sole purpose of complementing their clothing line in an attempt to boost sales. Therefore, the early pieces of jewelry were crafted as accessories to the clothing line of dresses. Specifically, pins and brooches were designed with brilliant rhinestones. In time, however, the beauty and quality of these jewelry pieces was so fine that it soon overwhelmed the design and beauty of the dresses. Women began to clamor for the jewelry rather than the dresses. In essence, Eisenberg Jewelry began as a simple incentive to sell merchandise of another nature. In fact, the jewelry pieces were made as accessories to the garments or dresses that were manufactured by the company, which was based in Chicago. Pinned to the garment in a blue velvet box labeled Eisenberg & Sons Originals, the jewelry pieces were an immediate success to the point that they were more desired than the dresses themselves. The company, Eisenberg Jewelry, Inc. Was officially established in 1940. Of course I honor this policy. Please message me first and I will do my best to resolve any issues as quickly as possible. All Antique and Estate Jewelry is perviously loved so care should be used when cleaning or in contact with water. It is NEVER recommended to use an ultrasonic cleaner for antique or fragile items.
