The Art Deco Era is famous for being the “Gatsby” or “Roaring Twenties” Era. A lot of gorgeous and timeless designs in jewelry came out of this period. During the Art Deco Period jewelers often made jewelry upon custom order, this would often take weeks to months to completely craft by hand. Akoya Pearls during the Art Deco Period were extremely rare and expensive to own! These pearls were extremely elegant and highly sought after due to their stunning luster and beautiful round shape. The pearls were still very new during the Art Deco Period and usually reserved for only the richest of the rich with their incredibly expensive price. The European Cut was primarily in use from 1890 to 1940. This type of old cut diamond was a step up from the Mine cut which preceded it, it includes more facets to reflect the light and sparkle as well as a larger table than we had ever seen before. This was truly the last type of diamond to be cut completely by hand! These diamonds especially larger ones are very rare due to being re-cut into modern cuts over the years. Lavaliere’s are necklaces that included a chain or small link necklace, fairly long, that terminates in a single large pendant or tassel, which in turn often has additional pendants or tassels dangling from it; though named for a mistress of Louis XIV, the style is usually associated with turn-of-the-20th century jewelry, and remained popular into the 1930s. The necklace was added onto the pendant at a later date and is made out of 14k white gold. The Diamond in this piece is beautifully carved into an Old European cut and show cases gorgeous facets that reflect light beautifully off of their surface. The diamond is beautifully set in the middle of the stunning pendant and compliments it perfectly with its incredible sparkle and flare! The diamond is in great condition and weighs in at. The pearl includes a gorgeous white color and a stunning amount of luster that is absolutely brilliant! The pearl is in great condition and weighs in at 3 mm in diameter. The platinum work in this piece would of been entirely hand carved by a talented Art Deco jeweler! The platinum design is beautifully carved into a marquise shape and features a beautifully textured surface with lovely chased details throughout that give it an incredible style! The necklace measures in at 18″ long and includes a “C clasp that works perfectly. Antique and Vintage jewelry is disappearing at alarming rates.
