The Art Deco Era is famous for being the “Gatsby” or “Roaring Twenties” Era. A lot of gorgeous and timeless designs in jewelry came out of this period. During the Art Deco Era jewelers would often make these pieces to order, which would take weeks to craft by hand! Chinese Export jewelry became popular during the late Victorian Period and lasted until the 1960’s. In a lot of ways Chinese Export jewelry fashioned what we know of jewelry today. During these period’s Chinese Craftsmen including Jewelers, Stone cutters were considered by far the best in the world. The rich and wealthy would have a piece custom ordered through their local jeweler whom was usually gifted at drawing a design to send off to contacts in China to craft and send back. As you can imagine, this was not cheap, that being said, these pieces are very rare and few have survived until today. Chinese Stonecutters were considered some of the finest artisans in the world during the Vintage Era. They would carved western themes as well as the more rare traditional eastern themes into their many pieces. Precious coral is harvested almost exclusively in the Mediterranean off the coasts of Italy, France, Spain, Algeria, and Tunisia. Angelskin Coral has widely been valued as the rarest and most beautiful of all Coral types. During the Art Deco Period only the richest of the rich could afford to have this form of coral harvested and imported into Europe and North America. The pieces includes a plethora of incredible Angelskin Coral beads throughout! The Angelskin Coral beads are all beautifully rounded and measure in at a lovely 9.5 mm in diameter. The coral beads feature an incredible white base with a light pink hue that gives them a beautiful natural color pattern. The Angelskin Coral beads are beautifully strung on a white string that is double knotted between each bead to ensure they do not damage each other with friction. The necklace includes lovely scalloped gold beads throughout the necklace and measures in at an incredible Opera length of 33 long. The necklace does not have a clasp, it is designed to be put on directly over your head and sit on your shoulders. Antique and Vintage jewelry is disappearing at alarming rates.
