The Art Deco Era is famous for being the “Gatsby” or “Roaring Twenties” Era. A lot of gorgeous and timeless designs in jewelry came out of this period. The Diamond in this piece is beautifully Old European cut and show cases gorgeous facets that reflect light beautifully. The diamond is securely set in the middle of the lovely pendant and measures in at a generous. The diamond is complimented by the beautiful platinum topped setting it is set in, and is very eye clean with a gorgeous reflection. The Old European cut was a cutting technique used in the early Victorian Period to the mid Art Deco Period and is one of the first cutting techniques known to man! This involved hand cleaving the gem stone or diamond into a round shape with rough facets and a high rise table. This cut is by far one of the more rare cuts out there due to a lot of these pieces being re cut to the modern round cut over the years. The design in this beautiful necklace would of been entirely hand crafted by a talented Art Deco gold smith. The design includes a lovely diamond shape for the diamond setting that is Platinum Topped and etched with careful, hand carved designs. The chain on the necklace measures in at a short length of 15 long and features petite white gold links that connect to each other beautifully creating a lovely design. The necklace is finished off with a 14k white gold “C” style clasp that works perfectly. Antique and Vintage jewelry is disappearing at alarming rates.
