NR! Antique Art Deco Natural Pearl Necklace 18K Diamond Clasp

Natural saltwater pearls are one of the world’s rarest gemstones, and of course highly collectible. They are “wild” as opposed to “farmed” pearls, and so few are found today that antique and vintage jewelry is the best source for them. The pearls in this necklace are white to near-white, and round to near-round. They have the characteristic look of Ceylon pearls, even more rare now than those from the Persian Gulf, as those fisheries were destroyed by an oil spill in the 1950s. This is my own opinion as a collector, as place of origin cannot be guaranteed. They have very fine, bright luster. The pearls are graduated from 5.38mm to 2.51mm. The necklace dates from around 1920 to 1930, and is completed by an elegant 18K white gold clasp set with three single-cut white diamonds. The pearls have just been restrung on white silk. Total weight of the necklace is 6.3 grams. At about 18.5 inches long (‘princess length’), it is easily wearable. The pearls are graded as white to near-white, and excess yellow tones come from the light source. All photos are taken in natural light, and I do not use Photoshop or a similar program. Pearls have been professionally cleaned and restrung. Clasps have been cleaned (metal may appear darker in the photographs).
