NR! Antique Art Deco Natural Pearl Double Strand Necklace 18K Diamond Clasp

As promised, here is another superb certified natural pearl necklace, in time for Christmas giving! Natural saltwater pearls are one of the world’s rarest gemstones, and of course highly collectible. They are “wild” as opposed to “farmed” (cultured) pearls, and so few are found today that antique and vintage jewelry is the best source for them. Each natural pearl piece makes for a truly unique and valuable gift, for anyone who appreciates history, rarity, and quality in jewelry. This is an even rarer natural pearl necklace — a double strand of essentially uniform (not graduated) pearls, 3.21mm to 2.98mm each. They are an exquisite light cream color with pinkish orient, and glow like little moons. The pearls are graded as round to near-round and extremely well matched. It would have taken years for a pearl dealer to assemble a double strand like this. The necklace dates from about 1920. It is completed by an intricate 18K white gold push-in clasp of 3/4 inch length, set with one European-cut diamond and 20 rose diamonds. The pearls have just been restrung on white silk, and the necklace is 16 inches long, so will fit a small to average neck. Total weight of the necklace is a very substantial 11.2 grams.
