Vtg 1930s Art Deco Sodalite Geometric Marcasite Sterling Silver Pendant Necklace
15″ with pendant dropping another 2 1/2″ below. Sterling silver, natural sodalite and marcasites. Why You’ll Love It. The radiant beauty of nature comes alive in this Art Deco necklace. Its vibrant marine-blue hue catches your eye, set within an uncommonly seen starburst-like setting of glimmering marcasites-an intentional choice by the designer. The intricate filigree chain is further complemented with inset marcasites- continuing the shimmering motif all the way up the chain. This stunner brings nature and geometry together to create a dazzling new addition to your collection. Bright patina with minimal surface wear to the setting. No dents or misshapen links. Fresh sheen, light surface wear, and no chipping on the sodalite. All marcasites are intact and in place. Chain is original to pendant. Art Deco is one of the first truly international styles, that influenced the design of buildings, furniture, fashion and of course, jewelry. The movement was given a name from the international exposition of Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes, that was held in Paris in 1925 and largely dedicated to the jewelry arts. Born out of ideas of modernism and the Industrial Age, this manifested into designs that used Cubism’s bold abstraction and rectilinear shapes and combined them with intricate patterning, bold color and symmetry. High-end jewelry design houses like Cartier and Boucheron set the trends in gold and gemstones, which were then emulated by costume jewelry companies in glass or perhaps plastics, and brought to the masses. _gsrx_vers_1608 GS 9.5 (1608).
