Vintage Art Deco Signed Platinin Sapphire Blue Open Back Crystal Czech Necklace

Welcome to Jewel Box :. A superb rare and lovely piece dating from the Edwardian or the Art Deco Era. Platinin like Platinon was a metal created as a substitute for Platinum which was restricted at that time. Different manufacturers used different names. I have had fewer pieces marked Platinin than Platinon. It was untarnishable and for this reason this example is in wonderful condition. The necklace is decocrated with very fine square geometric panels interspersed with little round ones towards the centre front and sides in Platinon. These are open and claw set with exquisite finely cut glass crystals the square ones in a lovely shade of pale Sapphire blue (the shade before stones are heat treated) and the round ones with clear ones to emulate diamonds or rock crystal. They have table cut fronts and pointy backs and being open the light can flood through and show the stones off to their best advantage. The Panels are linked with jump rings that are so incredibly fine as is the chain with fastens with a secure ring bolt clasp. The jump ring is marked PLATININ. The images show items close up (to disclose flaws) and this can make them look larger. The necklace is 16.7 inches long fantastic! And the little squares are app 5 mm deep.
