Vintage Art Deco Retro 1930s 40s Amethyst Glass Crystal Necklace
Curated Jewels for the Vintage Collector. While this piece is not signed by a designer, the substantial weight and quality of construction points to a necklace made by a notable design firm. With a transitional design, that shows Art Deco influence and the beginning of the retro era, this necklace likely dates between 1935 to the early 1940s. The large purple crystals were made to simulate amethyst and are open at the back and faceted for lots of sparkle. A special feature to note: the clasp is identical in shape and size to the connecting links allowing for the design to wrap seamlessly around your neck. Condition: Excellent – This piece is fresh looking and was well taken care of with signs of wear noticeable only on close inspection. The setting has a bright patina without any dents and very little surface wear – there is a little bit of wear to the gold finish on the setting showing a silvery color underneath but its a modest amount. The glass is fresh looking with surfaces that are smooth and gleaming and faceting that is crisp and refractive. There are no irregularities to the setting or signs of solder or repair and the piece has a firm shape. (each crystal is 10mm). Period 1930s – 40s. Antique and vintage styles that are typically seen in small or modest sizes get dramatic attention when theyre found in large, oversized, or bold pieces.
