VINTAGE ART DECO Genuine CHERRY AMBER BAKELITE Prayer GRADUATING BEADED NECKLACE
Beautiful Genuine Art Deco Bakelite Beaded Necklace. Here we have a stunning Art Deco period necklace crafted with genuine Bakelite beads. The necklace features a design of chunky Bakelite barrel beads in a’Cherry Amber’ colour (very deep red resembling the gemstone). The beads graduate in size from large at the front to small where the necklace ends with a clasp crafted in the same material. The clasp features two pieces of bakelite which screw together with turned line detailing. Close inspection shows the tell-tale lines inside the beads where the early plastic was drawn out during manufacture. Rubbing the beads with a finger produces the distinctive slight chemical smell which also identifies the Bakelite as genuine. This is an exquisite piece of jewellery for any serious collector or would make a beautiful gift for a vintage jewellery lover. These beads originate from the early Art Deco period – 1920’s. The condition is excellent with no real signs of wear despite being nearly 100 years old – they have been well cared for over the years. The beads are quite long at around 73cm / 28.5.
