SIGNED MAKER ART DECO EGYPTIAN REVIVAL ROLLED GOLD ENAMEL PASTE Vintage NECKLACE

Welcome to Jewel Box :. A fine old art deco necklace which i believe to be from the jewellery making centre of Pforzheim, Germany. It is signed AW and partially for ROLLED GOLD. It is similar to the work of Andreas Daub and other Jewellers from the area. The central panel is designed with two stepped outstretched wings enclosing a shaped cut glass paste to emulate a Mexican Fire Opal. Two fine curved tendrils, finely detailed with millegrain, curl from the wings to the paste. The paste is set open back so that the light can flow through and set it alight. Tucked under and connecting the panel and the wings are two enameled half flowers. The design has an Egyptian’wings of Horus’ feel. The wings are have fine stippling for texture and also polished areas for contrast. The workmanship is very fine. The central panel links on either side to two panels designed as mirror wings with the enamel element. The necklace is completed with a fine trace link chain fastening with a secure ring bolt clasp. The link at the end is signed. App 15.9 inches long which is a VERY SMALL SIZE. The total central drop is app 25 mm with the paste itself being app 12 mm. The necklace looks as though it has not yet been worn so if there are any minor marks they will be from app 100 years of storage and time!
