SIGNED ANTIQUE EDWARDIAN CZECH SATIN URANIUM GLASS Vintage NEGLIGEE NECKLACE

Welcome to Jewel Box :. A beautiful Original from the Edwardian to early Art Deco Eras. This would have been made in the Old Kingdom of Bohemia using satin Glass in a beautiful shade of soft jade green. As the glass glows under a UV light it indicates the presence of Uranium. I have been able to show this very well in the image despite several attempts as some show a purple glow this is not the case, they all show up as a soft luminous green. If there was no uranium they would simply’die’ under the UV light in the same way as’normal’ glass. Don’t worry the uranium in the glass is too small an amount to cause any problems in fact my research showed that a banana contains more uranium than one of these :. The central focal point is the beautiful open set circular cabachon open set in a frame work of fine lacy filigree. If you turn this over you can see how it is carefully kept in place with six bars on the reverse. This central feature supports two matching torpedo glass drops hung at graduated levels. These are protected with little fat caps. The entire arrangement is linked at the upper edge to two matching round glass beads also protected with fat caps and then via matching links (as the torpedos) to a further smaller pair of beads in a slightly paler shade of jade. The necklace continues with a simple curb chain which fastens with a secure ring bolt clasp. The jump ring that this connects to is signed for being made in CZECHOSLOVAKIA. App 16.5 inches in length and the pendant section is app 52 mm. You could lengthen by adding jump rings in view of the construction. The central Jade glass cab is app 13mm diameter. The brass elements retain traces of the original silvering (this looks brighter with the flash than in real life) which gives them rather a delicate appearance which i find beautiful. In fact i have had this for many many years.. I have seen a piece with these elements listed elsewhere as possibly being by Neiger. Most pieces are also listed elsewhere so first come first served. Any boxes, mannequins or fabrics are for display only. Everything is photographed in natural light with a flash.
