Beautiful ART DECO BI COLOUR Uranium + RARE CAMPHOR MELON GLASS Vintage NECKLACE

Welcome to jewelbox :. This rare necklace from the Art Deco era has UV reactive Bi Colour Uranium Czech graduated glass beads with a lime green centre with blue halos and under UV light glow a brilliant lime green. The beads are graduated and have a wonderful geometric cut. This example also has rare Camphor glass beads which were made by treating glass with hydrofluoric acid vapours to produce the effect of frosted but still translucent glass to emulate some rock crystal quartz which was very popular from Victorian times. The Camphor beads are melon shaped and are also graduated. These are also UV reactive and glow purple so they must contain Selenium or Cadmium. The largest UV bead is 20 mm wide and 17 mm tall. It has a flea bite shown in the last photo. While there may be other signs of wear they are not significant imo. The beads are separated by groups of small hand cut blue crystals flanked by tiny translucent green spacers also UV reactive. The rear of the necklace is made up of similar arrangements and the necklace fastens with a ring bolt clasp. This works although it is rusty but you sometimes need to remember to push the bolt back. 16 inches long including the clasp. There may be flea bites here and there so please zoom in and check out the necklace for yourselves. These are getting very scarce and difficult to find and this is a superb old example. The second last image is without a flash so you can see the acctual colour of the UV bead and also the first. The others are with flash and therefore clearer. Having fixed a date for my retirement the idea is not to hoard anything anymore so please keep your eyes open as you never know what you may find. Any boxes, mannequins or fabrics are for display only. Everything is photographed in natural light with a flash. I do not enhance colours but there could be difference between browsers etc. We are human beings and on occasion will probably make a mistake but will do everything we can to resolve one if it happens.
