Uyeda graduated Faceted Rock Crystal Beads Necklace, on a period chain, from the 1930’s. This is a very rare necklace from one of the most exclusive designers in Japan, I’ve seen a couple of Quartz Rock Crystal jewelry pieces from the House of Uyeda but not one like this. It is marked K. UYEDA on the diamond faceted clasp but there are no other marks I can find. All Uyeda pieces I’ve seen are made with. 950 Sterling Silver and I’m sure this one is as well. I did not test it for fear of damaging or altering it. It’s quite heavy at 61.4g and is about 16.5 long. I saw minute nicks with a loupe on a couple of the Crystal beads, commensurate with age, and I have also not cleaned this piece. In addition, I believe two AB Glass Beads were added to each end at some time. I’ve run across this before as many of these necklaces were not filled with beads from end to end. At some time a bead or two was added, these can be easily removed by your jeweler, if desired. Nevertheless, this gorgeous Necklace is in excellent antique condition.
