A RARE SUITE OF FATURAN BAKELITE JEWELLERY IN DARK CHERRY AMBER COLOR, WHICH DATES FROM LATE C1920S, FITTED PRESENTATION BOX. BAKELITE CORPORATION TRAVELLERS SAMPLE IN STUNNING ORIGINAL ORDER! The suite of genuine tested dark cherry Bakelite consists of a long graduated beaded necklace, with original barrel and screw clasp, a pair of screw back earrings and 2 bangles. The total weight on offer exceeds 105.9 grams! As a commercial sample the suite is of exceptional quality and has been kept in its original green velvet fitted case. It is highly likely that the necklace would have been presented unstrung, but have now been strung on red silk threads. Each bead is over 0.75 in diameter and the earrings have a total drop of 2.5 including findings. Each earring weighs 5.75 grams including findings. Are superbly milled in a full unbroken circle and measure a 5.0 internal diameter and are 0.20 wide. Each bangle weighs 20.75 grams. Is the original green velvet fitted box with a plush green velvet and satin interior. It has been especially designed to present the items. It is in vintage condition 2 and shows fading to both exterior and slight foxing to the satin interior. It is structurally very sound and the original clasp is worn. The box has a lovely period patina. This item is in vintage condition 1/2. None of the elements are damaged and the clasps works well, although the metal work shows age related wear and minor darkening to some of the settings. The clips and clasps work well.
