Art Deco Cherry Amber Bakelite Faceted Bead Necklace 30 59.8 grams Tested
Cherry amber is a commercial name for imitation amber in a red color and it is made from Bakelite. Bakelite does have a distinct appearance that sparkles and have a carbuncle look under the light. The largest bead is about 1 1/8 inches long and 21 mm thick. It is 30 inches long total when unscrewed and weighs 59.8 grams. The original screw was gone when found and I have replaced it with a plastic screw as shown on the photo. I have also recently restrung the necklace with a red string. All beads are original, in good condition. I have ran it under hot water and it does have that distinct smell from bakelite. Beautiful vintage piece for your collection fun and I have done the restrung work for you.
