The Art Deco Era is famous for being the “Gatsby” or “Roaring Twenties” Era. A lot of gorgeous and timeless designs in jewelry came out of this period. During the Art Deco Period jewelers often made jewelry upon custom order, this would often take weeks to months to completely craft by hand. The European Cut was primarily in use from 1890 to 1940. This type of old cut diamond was a step up from the Mine cut which preceded it, it includes more facets to reflect the light and sparkle as well as a larger table than we had ever seen before. This was truly the last type of diamond to be cut completely by hand! These diamonds especially larger ones are very rare due to being re-cut into modern cuts over the years. It involves stamping out a design in your metal and hand bending and twirling until your design in formed, it is considered one of the most difficult metal working processes. The necklace includes five large diamonds throughout the length of the necklace! The Diamonds are all beautifully Old European cut and set inside of the lovely platinum design! The Platinum design includes gorgeous thick settings for all of the diamonds as well as beautiful filigree designs that are expertly hand carved and connected together to make up the length of the necklace.
