Antique Tiffany & Co carved Jade Jadeite platinum diamond Art Deco necklace
This is a very special Tiffany & Co Art Deco Jade piece. It is fashioned in the prized Jadeite material depicting the popular pumpkin vine motif. Note the exceptional carving which actually includes the suggestion of curly pumpkin vines and leaves. The artist has perfectly positioned the original rough so that the gradations of translucent and deeper toned jade material become its own symmetrical frame. The platinum bail portion that holds the jade plaque is done in a classically beautiful Lotus flower design. The accent diamonds are bead set and graduated at about. 20 carats total weight. The upper support ring is set with cabochon Onyx stones that are calibrated to fit closely together in the surround. Look closely at the photos , you will see that the platinum is hand milgrained as well. Note the Tiffany hallmark on the reverse of the piece as well as upon the platinum chain. The chain is slightly heavier than their usual pendant gauge and measures 18″ in length fitted as well with a circle ring at 16″. Although it has been perfectly happy in its Tiffany brown pouch (used for platinum storage at that time) and suede box, you know that it would prefer being worn on skin and enjoyed as a symbol of prosperity..
