Antique Art Deco Vintage Neiger Bros Egyptian Revival Enamel Glass Necklace

Welcome to Jewel Box :. Neiger needs no introduction to the collector and there is a lot of research you can do online which i could never replicate in this listing. This is an imposing piece with vivid scarlet glass crystals of beautiful quality. When i was a pukka antique dealer research led me to understand that early red glass was made with the addition of gold and i can quite believe it looking at these as they glow. The beads graduate from the centre front which is app 20 mm with its beautiful ornamental filigree end caps. This links on either side to 18 mm ovoid beads also with filigree end caps and then to the first set of round beads centred a with four section brass panel which is enameled in red and black there is acceptable wear to the enamelling in accordance with age and use. Separating these from the second set is a lovely cylindrical textured brass bead and a red ovoid one which is echoed on the other side of the set of round cuts with enamel metal centres. The remainder of the long 31.5 inch necklace is comprised of groups of the scarlet beads separated with smaller cylindrical stamped brass beads. There is no clasp as it simply slips over the head. All the beads are hand wired with brass and the necklace hangs beautifully. It is a wonderful weight and one that i shall be sorry to see go. The crystals are in wonderful condition.
