Antique Art Deco Venetian Blue Wedding Cake Roses Lavaliere Vintage Necklace

Welcome to jewelbox :. A beautiful earlier example of this genre of necklace made on the fabled isle of Murano just by Venice. Generations of master glass makers have passed their skill through the generations but this is an earlier example than is usually found online. The front section of the necklace is wired with eight exquisitely worked round glass beads. Therefore, you will never need to worry about re threading the necklace. The heavenly blue base is applied with pink roses, yellow buttercups and blue forget me nots and also a band of’aventurina’ copper. In addition there is the unusual application of swirling at the top and bottom of each bead in a fine and barely perceptible blue/white stripe which is rarely seen. At the centre there is suspended a further round bead which supports a lovely tear drop elaborately worked in the same way! The work is often referred to as’lamp work’ and the beads as’fiorato’. The necklace is completed with a simple old brass chain which fastens with a secure ring bolt clasp. The drop section is app 30 mm and the dropper itself is app 17 mm. Some usual signs wear to the glass in the manufacture when they have been drilled for wiring. Probably needing a bit of a gentle clean as they have been in storage for 100 years. Slight tarnish on the clasp and the chain will polish up if that is what you want to my eyes this looks exactly as it should. A wonderful piece to gift or add to your own collection.
