ANTIQUE ART DECO Bezel Set Old Cut Diamond Paste Drops Vintage Bridal NECKLACE

Welcome to Jewel Box :. An absolutely gorgeous necklace from the Art Deco or Belle Epoque Era. This is composed of a’chain’ completely collet set with sparkling old cut glass pastes which were created to emulate diamonds in quality and brilliance. The’chain is articulated for perfect movement. Toward the centre front these are interspersed with bagette pastes also collet set. Each of these terminates with a very large claw set old cut glass strasse stones which if you turn the necklace over you can see are foil backed hence the sparkle. The necklace fastens with a secure push in clasp which is also set with two sparkling pastes. The metal work is superb with fine millegrain setting to all the bezel edges, which is a feature generally found in precious metal jewellery. The design ensures that although this piece is probably over 100 years old the design will never date and always be wearable. The pastes are magnificent and glitter like diamonds. In fact, historically in Georgian times there was no distinction placed between good paste and diamonds themselves. Looking at these one can understand why. The cutting is superb and light refraction is superb. The necklace is 15.2 inches long. The drop at centre front is 14 mm. The larger foil backs are nearly 10 mm. The metal is in superb condition i hesitate to say it because how can it be true but the necklace does not look like it has been worn yet. The Rhodium plated finish has preserved this beautifully. Rhodium is a derivative of Platinum and is still used to inhibit tarnish/wear on precious jewellery. This was an expensive and exclusive piece in its time offered to you from my own collection.
