Antique Max Neiger Czech Enameled Brass Glass Bead Suffragette Necklace Intaglio
This listing is for a very rare and interesting early necklace done by the Neiger Brothers circa 1915. It is done in the colors of the Suffragettes (there is an interesting article by the NPS regarding the colors if you google it), which includes purple, green, yellow, amber, and white with touches of blue and red. It features purple and yellow faceted glass beads along with butterscotch swirled and mottled unfaceted beads on brass chain. The enameled bead caps are a rare feature seen only on the best Neiger pieces, even the un-enameled caps are very intricate. The bright yellow beads and rhinestones are UV reactive. This one is a real piece of art with all the bells and whistles. There are a couple of condition issues. There is a red rhinestone missing in the pendant and the uppermost butterscotch beads with the white caps are chipped. It’s not a condition issue, but the mounting of the purple rhinestone on the dangle below the intaglio was set crooked. Otherwise it is in lovely condition and ready to wear.
