Vtg 1930s Art Deco German Sterling Silver Flower Marcasite Link Necklace

For the Vintage Collecto r. With an elegant and minimal silhouette, the design of this Art Deco necklace is still ornate, complex and detailed. Using only sterling silver and natural marcasites, this piece achieves so much with so little and was beautifully crafted. Made in Germany (marked on the clasp) it follows classic Art Deco tenets, organic floral design and patterning combined with the rigid and geometric shapes in the setting. Inset marcasites dotted throughout add a subtle glimmer to each thin and delicate feeling link. This piece is fresh looking and must have been tucked away and well taken care of, or worn infrequently. The silver has a bright patina without any dents and very little surface wear. The marcasites are all intact and look original with fresh surfaces that dont have any chipping and little surface wear. There are no irregularities to the setting or signs of solder or repair and the piece has a firm shape. (if the piece is not marked it is tested for silver content). Born out of ideas of modernism and the Industrial Age, this manifested into designs that used Cubisms bold abstraction and rectilinear shapes and combined them with intricate patterning, bold color and symmetry.
